Our Story
Bwindi Primate Safaris was founded by a team of Ugandan safari guides who saw a need for authentic, fairly priced tours. Too many international companies charged high prices while paying local guides poorly. Too many travelers never met the people who actually ran their safaris. We decided to change that.
Our founders grew up in the villages surrounding Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. As children, they heard stories of gorillas from their parents and grandparents. As young adults, they trained as guides. They learned the forest, the gorilla families, and the best ways to keep visitors safe while respecting wildlife.
Today, Bwindi Primate Safaris employs a team of local guides, drivers, and office staff. We are proud to be local gorilla trekking experts who reinvest in our community. A portion of every safari supports Batwa community projects and gorilla conservation efforts.

Founder & Senior Guide. Our founder grew up in the Buhoma sector, minutes from the park headquarters. With over a decade of guiding experience, they know every trail, every gorilla family, and every secret the forest holds.
Operations Manager. This team member handles all bookings, permits, and logistics, ensuring every safari runs smoothly. They are the voice on the other end of your emails and calls.
Driver Guides. Our driver guides have years of experience navigating the roads of Uganda and Rwanda. They are patient, safe, and full of stories about the places you will visit.
Birding Specialists. Our expert bird watchers lead dedicated birding tours in Bwindi, Kibale, and Queen Elizabeth, with hundreds of species spotted across Uganda.
